Willow Springs Raceway is located in Rosamond, California, about an hour north of Los Angeles. It is the first purpose-built Grand Prix road race circuit in North America. Located in the High Desert, the weather is ideal for year-round racing. Willow Springs Racing utilizes three of the tracks offered: Kart track, Streets of Willow, and the original Willow Springs race track. Our students have the advantage of testing out their newly gained skills on several different courses (Formula Cars).

Karting

Sitting an inch off the ground and traveling at speeds up to 100 mph brace yourself for the ride of your life.  We offer three different programs depending on the driver’s age and experience level.  Unlike other driving schools, our students spend little time in the classroom and more time on the track, getting hands-on experience.  We provide all the needed equipment: driving suits, gloves, and helmets. Programs start at 9:00 a.m.

Kids Karts –
80cc 2-stroke Comber Racing Kart – $225 for a full day of instruction.  Total of 80 laps.  This class is geared for children age 8 and up.

This is an introduction to the karting program.  We place a strong emphasis on safety and proper track etiquette.  We cover all the basic skills necessary for driving a kart including fitting the driver to the kart, how to get in and out properly, steering control, hand position, and straight-line braking.  The morning session begins with a lead-follow with a qualified instructor, continues with a lapping session, turning points, and apexing.  There is a one-hour break for lunch then session 2 starts with another round of lead-follow and then more lapping.

4-stroke –
$325 a day – 100 laps

This is the entry-level karting geared for the beginner or those who simply drive for the thrill of it.  These karts are powered by 4-stroke Honda engines and reach speeds up to 50 mph.
We cover the basic skills necessary combined with advanced racing techniques including trail braking, sliding the kart, and cornering speeds. Sessions begin with lead-follow and end with lapping.  The student gets the opportunity to race one-on-one with the instructor.

125cc Shifter Karts and Rotax Max –
$425 – 100 Laps

Now it’s time to get serious with our Rotax Max and Shifter Kart racing courses.  Designed for the more experienced driver, these karts can reach speeds of up to 100 mph.  Completion of this course prepares a driver to race in a series or head-to-head competition.  More advanced driving techniques are offered including skid control and the practice of standing starts.
